Taking flight with winter birding at Lake White

Lake White State Park, just outside of Waverly, is a magnet for winter waterfowl, like many other bodies of water around the state. Here, a flock of Mallards is seen on the Ohio 220 side of the lake. Mallards are a common year-round resident, but during the winter, many other species can be present, such as Ring-necked Ducks, Pie-Billed Grebes, Hooded Mergansers, Northern Pintails, Buffleheads, and numerous other species (ebird.org).
