A Chillicothe man was struck by a commercial motor vehicle and killed on U.S. Route 23 near Rozelle Creek Road in Ross County on Wednesday evening.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Travis J. White, 23, of Chillicothe, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ross County coroner.
The Patrol reported that White stepped from the median into the path of a 2013 Peterbilt tractor-trailer combination vehicle, operated by William V. Tindall, 35, of Piketon. According to the Patrol, Tindall’s vehicle was headed south on U.S. 23 in the left lane.
On Wednesday, Nov. 7, at approximately 8:17 p.m., the Jackson Dispatch Center received the call about the incident, the Patrol reported.
The Ohio Department of Transportation, Huntington Township Fire/EMS, Scioto Township Fire/EMS, and the Ross County coroner were on scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
