Working to complete their Scioto Valley Conference basketball schedule, the Piketon Redstreaks traveled to the Huntington hills Friday evening, Feb. 12 and emerged with a 60-22 victory over the Huntsmen.

The Huntsmen scored just one point in the opening quarter, while the Redstreaks produced 20. Brody Fuller and Levi Gullion led the attack. Fuller produced seven points with two foul shots, a bucket and a trifecta. Gullion added three more buckets. Tra Swayne had Piketon’s other three-pointer, Kydan Potts provided a bucket, and Chris Chandler had two free throws.

In the second quarter, Chandler took off, scoring eight of his team’s 14 points, Potts connected on a three-pointer, Gullion added another bucket, and Sawyer Pendleton split a pair of free throws. The Streaks doubled the scoring of the Huntsmen 14-7, increasing the lead to 34-8 at the break.

Chandler, Gullion and Fuller handled the scoring in the third quarter. Chandler produced five points with two buckets and a free throw, Gullion added two baskets as well, and Fuller connected on another trifecta. The Huntsmen had their best output of the night, scoring 10. Heading to the fourth quarter, Pikrton was up 46-18.

In the final quarter, Brady Coreno broke into the scoring column with a pair of three-pointers. Chandler scored six final points, while Pendleton added another basket, completing the 60-22 win.

For the Streaks, Chandler led the way with 21 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. He was followed by Gullion with 12 points and Fuller with 10 points.

For Huntington, Caleb Smith led with eight points, followed by Darius Brown with six and Seth McCloskey with five.

The win saw the Redstreaks improve to 16-5 overall and 9-4 in Scioto Valley Conference play. They are tentatively scheduled to head to Southeastern for a make-up game on Thursday, Feb. 18. They will begin post-season play at home on Feb. 22 versus the West Union Dragons at 7 p.m.
