The Pike County YMCA hosted an event on Saturday for those in the deaf community.

The event, which was organized by Ross County's Pioneer Center in partnership with Integrated Services of Appalachia and the YMCA, was entitled C.L.I.M.B., an acronym spelling out the event's mission — to connect, learn, inspire, mentor, and build.

According to the Pioneer Center, more than 30 people, most of whom were minors, attended the event, and these attendees had the opportunity to mingle with peers who endure similar hearing-based challenges. For some of those in attendance, it was reportedly their first time to meet other individuals who are deaf or for the parents to meet another parent of a child who is hard of hearing.
