Elder Lloyd Dale Ray of the Faith and Order of the Old Regular Baptist church was the sixth of seven children born to David Ray and Addie Flanary Ray. He was born May 16, 1938 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 21, 2016.
Lloyd was wed to Eva Nadine Hamilton on June 27, 1964, where he found the perfect partner in faith and life.
His belief in following scripture and living a life of love and fellowship in Christ without envy and strife guided his every day. He lived the life that he preached, of righteousness, generosity and patience. Placing others ahead of himself came naturally as it did to his loving wife throughout their blessed marriage of more than fifty-two years.
Lloyd never met strangers, but made friends by meeting them with kindness. His self-deprecating humor and desire to touch every life he encountered were part of the gifts God bestowed upon him for all of us to enjoy.
He was loved everywhere he went. From neighbors and friends to his doctors and caregivers, who expressed awe that he was so kind to them and so grateful for their help when he was suffering so. It is a rare soul who can endure suffering and remain kind and loving to all around him. This inspired deep caring on the part of its recipients.
While he worked a number of jobs to help support his family, retiring due to an on-the-job injury in 1994 from the Kentucky Department of Transportation did not slow his work for the church and his enjoyment of meetings and the company of his brothers and sisters in the church.
Lloyd was a proud and loving father to daughter Patrea Michelle Neal of Scottsdale, Arizona. He introduced his daughter to anyone he encountered, saying, “This is my only Baby”. He will never be replaced and that lucky daughter is so thankful for the most kind and loving father who always made her feel kind, smart and pretty.
Preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Carl and Boyd Ray, sisters Hazel Entler, Jewel Little and Dorothy Skeens. Lloyd leaves behind sister Lois, Loving wife Eva Nadine, Adoring Daughter Patrea Michelle and scores of family and friends whose love he so richly deserved, that will miss him.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Little Ettie Church, 2707 Salem Cave Road, Beaver, Ohio with Elder Teddy Honaker, Elder Aaron Whitaker, Jr., Elder Greg Sowards and Elder Harrison Runyon officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio.
