The Jasper Elementary Redstreaks Student-Run Credit Union received a special visit from Congressman Brad Wenstrup on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Congressman Wenstrup was in attendance to observe the financial education program provided by Atomic Credit Union.
“The kids at Jasper Elementary in Piketon team up with local high schoolers to run their own credit union (sponsored by @Atomic_CU). Great way to learn about math, work, and the importance of saving,” the Congressman posted on his Twitter page.
Jasper Elementary students and staff also achieved a membership goal that was established at the beginning of the school year to help promote the importance of saving at a young age. As part of reaching this goal, Atomic Credit Union awarded the school with a lump sum of $1,000.
Atomic Credit Union serves over 48,000 members at 13 branch locations in Southern Ohio and also operates a total of 37 Student-Run Credit Unions in local area schools.
