It has been many years since a doctor’s office has located and served patients in the Bainbridge area. Earlier this month, Trusted Health Care Family Practice opened its doors in the village, providing full medical care and a range of medical services, including management of chronic health conditions, acute care (sick) visits, school and sports physicals, ODOT physicals, well-child exams, and various medical tests.

“Until our office opened, locals had to travel to Greenfield, Hillsboro or Chillicothe for medical care,” said Dr. Aston Waite, Vice President and Office Manager at Trusted Health Care. “So far, our only real challenges have involved converting the building into the office space needed, and assembling the supplies and staff needed.”

After working for twenty years as an engineering analyst in the aerospace field, Waite decided to join his wife, Dr. Jilian Waite, in the creation of the second largest house call practice in Dayton, Ohio.

“Two years ago, one of my employees, Melissa Cropper, approached me with the idea of opening a primary care office in Bainbridge,” said Waite. “Late last year, we decided to heed the call to serve locals in need of medical care.”

In addition to the Waites, the Trusted Health Care Family Practice staff will include April Dingus (LPN), Amy Bowman (CMA) and Marsha Mitchell (NP-C, Family Nurse Practitioner).

“Ever since I started back to school to become a Nurse Practitioner in 2006, I’ve wanted to serve the Bainbridge community, since it is my hometown,” said Mitchell. “My husband and I had started working on a plan to open a practice here within the next five years, so when I first saw the sign that Trusted Health Care was coming to the area, I was devastated, because I thought someone had beat me to my dream. But a week or two later, Aston walked into my husband’s hardware store, introduced himself and began to tell about the practice he was opening. The conversation included the fact that Dr. Jilian Waite could only be in town one day per week and that they didn’t know how they were going to staff the office. My husband, Tony, told him about me, a couple of phone calls were made, and in less than 24 hours, we knew that we were meant to work together.”

Mitchell earned her nursing degree from Capitol University, and her nursing experience includes work in Med/Surg, Post-Op, Home Health, Hospice and Nursing Education. She became licensed as a Nurse Practitioner after receiving her Master’s Degree from the Ohio State University in 2009. Prior to joining the Trusted Health Care team, Mitchell worked in a busy family practice clinic as an employee of the Pike County Community Action Committee.

“We have all worked together since early May to get this practice up and running,” said Mitchell. “They were creating a practice exactly like I had envisioned this town needed, and they felt I was the perfect provider to staff it full-time.”

Mitchell will work alongside Dr. Jilian Waite, M.D. Waite earned a B.S. in Biology, Chemistry and English from Oakwood University, in Alabama, in 1987, an M.S. in Biology from Alabama A&M University, in 1988, M.D. from Wright State University School of Medicine, in 1995, and in 1998, she completed her internship and Internal Medicine Residency from the Kettering Medical Center Hospital, in Dayton. Waite is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine (Board Certified). She will serve as President and Chief Executive Officer/Owner of the practice.

April Dingus (LPN), graduated from the LPN program at the Pike County Career and Technology Center has worked in Pleasant Hill Manor, in Piketon, as a staff nurse, and has worked as a primary nurse for multiple healthcare providers. Amy Bowman (CMA) is a lifelong Bainbridge resident and is a graduate of the CMA Program at Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center. In the past, Bowman has worked as a Certified Medical Assistant in urgent care, chiropractic care and women’s health offices.

During a camping trip five years ago, Medical Assistant Melissa Cropper and her family took a drive and discovered and “fell in love” with the Bainbridge area. After visiting and talking with locals, Cropper began to realize that there was a great need for healthcare in the town.

“It just so happened that I work for Trusted Health Care, in Dayton, and I knew that we could make a difference for the folks in Bainbridge too,” said Cropper. “Our Dayton practice sees patients in their homes, so seeing patients in the office would be a whole new ballgame, but with our courageous office manager, expert team of staff and caring providers, we knew we could do it.”

According to Cropper, Dr. Aston Waite and his staff were “welcomed with open arms” by the business owners and Bainbridge residents, and since, everything has fallen smoothly into place.

“Everything from that point on has been guided by divine intervention and the tireless work of Aston and his crew,” said Cropper. “We are so thankful that Dr. Jilian Waite started this wonderful company. Her many years of kind, caring compassion has made a difference in the lives of many, and of many more to come.”

Trusted Health Care Family Practice is located at 128 E. Main Street, in Bainbridge (across from Dairy Queen and the Post Office). The practice accepts all insurances, and special discounted rates are available for the uninsured. The office’s hours are 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

“All patients are accepted, and just need to call or stop in to make an appointment. Being able to offer medical care in this area is so awesome, because the need is so great,” said Dr. Aston Waite. “As we plan on growing in the area by the grace of God, our hope is to address other needs in the community as well. Our hope is that the office flourishes and continues to grow, providing excellent safe, home-town medical care for the residents of Bainbridge and the surrounding community.”
